You may have problems now! If the piston is far enough out of the caliper and there is hydraulic fluid leaking, you will need to remove, strip and clean (very thoroughly) the caliper and piston. Check carefully for damage to the piston seals etc. You don't say which model / year the car is, but if it is the rear handbrake type, you need to use the allen key to retract the piston and then on refitting, you use the allen key to adjust the handbrake as follows: 1. Fit the new brake pads. 2. Use the allen key to tighten the pads onto the disc until the disc is locked and won't turn. 3. Back off the allen key until the disc just turns freely. This should be done with the handbrake off and will set up the brakes nicely. If you find a fluid leak (ie. wet caliper) you will need to bleed the braking system. I don't remember the details, but if you have ABS, the rear brakes are controlled via a fluid pump instead of just pedal pressure so the engine needs to be running to do the brake bleed. If you're not sure, get a mechanic or a manual. Since you say the piston may have come out of the caliper, I'ld suggest you have it professionally checked. It doesn't do to mess with your braking. Enjoy!
