The autoboxes do not last very long - 175k is about average. Check the tranny fluid to make sure it's clean and not burnt, and be sure it shifts properly. 2. The '88 9kt has a 2.0l (1985cc) engine, chain driven DOHC. 3. The EPA rates the '88 9kt at 19mpg city and 26mpg highway. Note that the EPA uses a test speed of 48mph for highway driving; real-world will net you closer to 30mpg from a 5-speed. '88 was a good year for 9000s.... the got ABS (be sure it works) rear indepedant blowers and some other goodies. They also gained about 300 lbs, though. -Justin
