Hello Chris Does the sound appear at any gear at that rpm??. If it does,it might be a valve or a valveseat as it was on my 99 turbo-78. I could hear the noise even when i rev the engine whith no gear in. And as a result about four weeks later the valve seat partly came loose from the cylinder head.No fun at all :-( It could be that or you have carbon buildups on the valve itself .
