No rip off. your 900 is likely to have somewhere of around 150.000 km on the clock. That is usually the life span of the rear seal. There is little or no room behind the engine and it is impossible to reach the seal without either taking the complete engine and gearbox out or removing the radiator and such and moving the engine a little forwards. Moving the engine a little can be done in a 99 without powersteering. In a 90 900 that has the same engine basicly I'm not sure if it can be don without removing the engine. But it still takes a lot of work. Once the engine is out you have to remove the seal wich can be a messy job to depending the state it is in. Fixing the new seal is the easy part. All in all it is a nice backbreaker that in principle you can do yourself. 15 hours is a lot but when you consider what needs to be done not a hell of a long time. With two men you can exchange an engine completely in about 5 hours that is exit en entry without any work on the engine or the car, just a complete exchange.
