If the fluid is really nasty, I'll change it 3 times with non-synthetic, then 3-4 times with synthetic. I'm pretty sure non of the old stuff is still in there by that time<g>. Power steering--will come out with some force, even on the lower pressure return line. If you don't want to disconnect stuff, you can suck out the reservoir, and replace with fresh.
