I just recently bought a '81 900 with a five speed standard transmission . The transmission dipstick is showing low fluid levels. The previous owner, had a 1L bottle of automatic transmission fluid stashed in the engine bay. It seems to a little strange to be putting automatic transmssion fluid into a vehicle that has a standard transmission. This may seem like a dumb question, but since I have no manual as yet, and this is a serious fluid situation I was wonder if anyone out there could help me. Appreciate very much. Ps The only fill point seems to be the dipstick itself, is this right?
