Subject: Re: 93 9000CSE Climate Control Problems Don't trust dealer

This problem you're experiencing is likely the servo motor that alternates between hot and cold, to maintain the air temperature on the 9000. I had the same problem on my 88 9kt. The 9000's climate control system is designed such that there is always hot air, to which is added as needed cold air via a flap that opens and closes by the servo motor. Another servo opens and closes the outside air intake to assist in adjusting for humidity. Couple of points: You don't need to go to the dealer for diagnostic readings with an ISAT; just hold the vent and auto buttons down together for about 5 seconds, then the system goes into a diagnostic mode. If there are no faults, you'll have a "0" show on the display, and if faults, the number thereof will show. Use the fan speed buttons to cycle through them. Not being in my garage as I write this where my service manuals are, I'll go from memory: you will probably have a "5C" code show up, which is for reverse polarity on the servo. Another could be "5U" the u being for undetermined. If you are sure your ac compressor is working, to nail it down to the servo, pull you glove box (assuming a LH drive car), and just behind the ACC control box (which BTW pushes in and out like the Clarion stereo), and on the ride hand side is the servo in question, with a rod clipped to it. Remove the clip, so that you can manually open and close the flap, and pushing it in, as I recall, will be full AC air. I seem to recall reading something about this on the SAABNET site. Look there as well. On 21 Dec 1998 00:46:30 GMT, FEDavisnopsamdnet.att.net (Fred E.
