Subject: Engine Oil Heater

We've had a lot of discussion on the proper way to warm up an engine recently; but does anyone have an engine oil heater? I'm not talking about just for cold weather, but for overnight, all the time. I've seen one that is a small plate that would attach to the bottom of you oil pan. The concept is that heat rises and your oil and components would be heated, therby reducing the wear upon startup. This seems to make some sense to me. Where I work we have emergency diesel generators that use a lubricating oil pre-heater. However, this difference here is that that oil flow is always pressuized and flowing. The oil is pre-heated so that the engine doesn't have to warm up to be able to carry its full load, within a matter of 30 seconds after starting. Tom
