I would say that your master cylinder is gone. The tell-tale sign is that it won't hold for any length of time. If the car breaks and then the pedal sinks to the floor will holding it I'd recommend replacing the thing. If you let it go one day they won't work at all, YIKES!!! Replacing this thing isn't all that bad but bleeding the system sure can suck. I'd prolly send it to the garage unless they were really pricy and I had all day to mess around with it. > >I also have a similar problem with heat. If it was changed with an aftermarket part it is rumoured to have an effect on the heat in cold weather. I've always used the orig. Saab thermostat. I even get the 82 degreeF one rather than the 89F. It is only about $25 and is pretty easy to replace. Good idea to flush the cooling system while it's out. I'll bet this will solve this problem.
