First, I happen to like aspects of both Volvos and Saabs (blasphemy you say!) That said, I don't know where you live but here in the U.S. your statement is incorrect. In the U.S, there is no stock Saab made that can outrun the high-end Volvos. The S70 T5 runs from 0-60 in approximately 6.2 - 6.5 seconds (depending upon who you read). Car and Driver (12/98) clocks the S70 GLT which is the low pressure turbo at 6.7 seconds. The high pressure turbo (T5) is quicker but seems to be quoted with significant variance from source to source. The S80 T6 is clocked at 6.5 seconds from 0-60 in the 1/99 edition of Car and Driver. The quickest Saab listed is the 9-5 SE with a time of 7.5 seconds from 0-60 (same time in both Car and Driver as well as Road & Track). This is a very respectable time but it does not best the Volvos (not to mention that the Volvos with their unrestricted top ends theoretically run up to and past the 150 mph [250kph] mark). As much as I like the 9-5, I don't think it would be fair to compare it to the S80 T6. The S80 2.9 is a more appropriate comparison (particularly if you consider that the T6 has skidpad scores that would embarrass a BMW 540). If it wasn't for the fact that I can buy a S80 T6 for under $37,000 USD under the European Delivery option, I would probably buy a 9-5 as my next car as the S80 IMHO is a better car but usually for significantly more money. -rdo russell.ollienopsamnet Riff wrote in message <368F449A.88A27E85nopsamsouth.net>... >thanks for the info. >SAAB on the other hand is known for its high quality and turbocharging. >its also know for passing BMW's and Volvo's all around the world! > > >Mark >1991 SPG 900 Turbo
