Subject: Re: Any 300K miles engine around? Need real data...

I've been following this thread for a while now and I'm a bit curios how often you need to change oil and filters in your cars. I have a SAAB 9000 -92 and according to my service book which came along with the car I should change oil every 12500 miles or once a year whichever comes first. When I see these figures of changing 3-4 times as often and using some addative I begin to wonder why since my engine is running really smooth and runs without any problems at all. I change oil and filter in time and don't use any additives. OK, my car hasn't passed 300K miles, but it's about 160K miles without any signs of weardown. I've seen Volvo, SAAB, Mercedes and BMW cars with over 300K miles on the meter as long as service has been done according to the manual. So the question really is why you have to change oil/filters so often in US, but not back here in Sweden. / Andreas David Everson wrote: > Ken Washington wrote in message <369AD9DB.2EEDnopsam.net>... > >In your zeal to respond you got it wrong.
