Subject: Re: Check Engine

I had this problem on my '90 900 Aero. When you pushed it hard, check engine would come on and the engine would idle really rough at a standstill then the problem would mysteriously go away. Saab couldn't find a fault. I finally worked out it. One of the vacuum lines on the turbo gets blown off by the pressure when you hammer it. The loss of pressure is picked up by the sensors and the check engine light comes on, idle does work properly etc... The vacuum line stays in place however so under decceleration the vacuum in the turbo sucks the line back into place, light goes off, all seems well. Finally worked it out when I really hammered it and the line ended up lying right across the engine block. Gerard...
