Subject: Re: Clarion CD changer for '95 9000CS

Calvin, I just installed a CDC635 in our '94 9000CSE. Bought it from one of the "Cheap New York companies" Web page. I am under the impression that the 12 disk changer will not work with a factory head unit. I didnt have to drill holes to mount it, but I did have to cut a few small holes in the carpet in the left rear corner of the trunk. The cable was back behind the sidewall of the trunk, near the antenna mechanism. A 2" slit in the carpet was required to get the end of the cable to pass through. The two Clarion bracket plates went under the carpet with the attached screws going up through four small holes in the carpet. I mounted the changer vertically with the 2 "L" shaped brackets and 4 wingnuts on the screws. Overall, it took about 25 minutes and the hardest part was lifting the carpet to slide the brackets under it. I don't know if the Saab unit is any better, or how their mounting bracket works, but this one was easy to install and it works great. The unit is exposed in the trunk, and I suppose that it could get damaged if something really heavy were rolling around back there, but we only haul groceries or occasionally some duffle bags. Good luck, David Calvin Cheng wrote in message <3691a22d$0$19091nopsam1.ba.best.com>... >Hi guys, I'm planning to install a Clarion CD changer (CDC-635 or CDC-1235) >onto the stock unit.
