The fact that it is chattering proves that it is working and getting signal from the APC box. It maybe however that the solenoid has been wired up wrong but this is highly unlikely since the connectors are designed to be fool proof (i.e. mechanic proof). The most likely senario is that the pressure transducer has failed thus giving a constant reading of around 180 ohms or so. This happened to me last year and at first I blamed it on an alarm system I had fitted since the two events coincided. When I discussed the fault with the SAAB main dealers near me they refused to believe me and stated that they had never had to supply a pressure transducer. I got one from a scrapyard and then asked my SAAB tech to help me fit it since it involves taking out the centre console and dashboard kneepad. To my amazement he told me that these fail all the time and he had to do one on his own car! It just goes to show how valuable 20+ yrs experience is. To check the APC system you will need to find the APC box and then get busy with your multi meter. I think the pressure transducer is on pins 8 and 9 on early boxes, I am sure Justin will post the details! Anyway you should see 10 ohms with the ignition on and the engine not running. If you are reading a significantly higher resistance then the transducer is screwed. Keep on SAABing!
