James, Does the car also "hiccup" or stumble when you quickly lift the throttle and then get back on it? If so, or if you have other odd driveability problems, you probably need a new "turbo bypass valve", sometimes called a "hooter valve". Probably about 100 US$ to replace. They are NOT very durable - replaced one on my 9000 and 20K miles later it's already showing signs of failure. Battery light could be defective alternator, or a loose or slipping belt. I'd get this one checked out quick, if I were you! The speedometer is driven by a cable which would have been disturbed when the dash was worked on. However, this probably just aggravated an existing problem. If the car has > 100K miles, the cable's entitled to be replaced. If you're creative, though, sometimes you can lubricate them and get a couple more years before they fail.
