Subject: Engine check light...

I have an 88 900T 16S occasionally, only when changing gear, the Check Engine light flashes on, it goes off straight away and may come on again when changing gear. It is never more than a single flash. Any ideas? Also the battery gauge shows 13+ Volts, however my battery warning light spends most of it's time on. The alternator was replaced a couple of months ago. This problem has only just started. Is this alternator faulty, or could it be the battery. Last thing, I had the dimmer rheaostat replaced for the dash a while ago. Since then the speedo needle is often flickery, then settles down, then starts to flicker again. Has the mechanic broken something, or is this common after playing with the dash. Many thanks, James
