Subject: 1999 9-5SE - Couple of questions

Hello: My driver-side seatback (power, heated & vented seats) is giving me trouble. First of all, something in the lower portion seems to move around and poke me in the back when cornering or coming to a complete stop. It feels like something swinging around and then thumping me in the lower back. It seems like some of the power mechanisms or possibly the head-restraint system may be loose/broken. Not painful but damn annoying in a brand new $34K car. The upper half of the seat back has some sort of cushion problem. When you lean against it or push on it with your hand it gives way and then pops back much the way an empty plastic milk jug would if you pressed your finger into it and released. Again, not painful but damn annoying in a $34K car. The dealer has ordered a replacement for which they are not able to offer an ETA. It is severely back-ordered. Initially I was told 2-3 weeks. Now they guess a couple of months. In the interim, I contacted Saab USA which: First told me that they had stepped up the priority of my order Then suggested that if necessary, they might pull one out of another new car. Lastly told that they'll attempt to repair it. First of all, has anyone experienced these types of seat problems? Secondly, is this sort of parts availability and service typical of the "Saab" experience? This is not quite what I expected. Thanks! Scott Turnamian
