I would stay with a 900s, the turbos are good, but often beat. With pre 1990 5 spds, the pinion bearings were a source of problems. Listen very close to the transmission, listen for any wining. Also, make sure each gear shifts smooth. The engines go a real long time. So, with an older Saab 900, the transmision is what to worry about, and its very expensive. I would look close at all service receipts and inquirre about trans fluid changes. If they can't tell you when of if the trans fl was changed....back away
