Best cars I've ever owned and both are still running strong. If you treat it right it will treat you right. (i.e. take it only to a real Saab guy or do the maintenance yourself. It's like a love thing) > >Now I see an add for a 9000 turbo with 170k miles. Is it worth my time to >look? Is it worth my $ to buy? You left out some details here like year/mileage/price/condition. Tuff to advise w/o knowing but it's probably worth some research. > >Also, I'm trying to stay away from the turbos. I hear they often need >expensive repairs. True? It all comes down to the car and previous owners. If your buying from a 16 year old who drove it like a racecar well move on. I certainly would go with a Turbo as far as the ride, assuming the car was owned by a real true Saab type person. > >Finally, a mechanic has an '85 900 turbo with 100k miles for $2,500. Good deal >or sucker bait? That would be a deal if it is in excellent shape and the guy has experience with Saabs. I don't mean to denigrate any mechanics but when it comes to Saabs even the best mechanic is worthless to you if they don't work on and love Saabs like a true religion. I'd still try to talk him down but if it is real good...? I looked for months as I drove my old '84 and I found my '88 900T with 180k on it advertised (private sale) for $2,200 or $2,400. After a little negotiation I walked away with it for $1,800. I'll admit that this was way under what the car was worth but if you have the time to look... Good luck & happy Saabing!!!! > >Thanks, >John >Acton, MA >JKWIPRnopsamcom
