Brad,

If you take care of your 88 9000T, your best bet would be a rebuild,
when and if the time comes or a good used engine. In 1993 I had to
replace an 8 valve engine in my 83 900T. I was quoted a dealer price of
$8000 for the 8 valve and almost double that for the 16 valve. So for
what a new engine would cost, you could get a newer used Saab 9000.
The economics of putting a new engine in an old car are not good.
