I've been using AMSOIL synthetic oil since 1977, and have changed over about 6 or 7 Saab with over 100,000 miles to it. Have never had any problem with leaks--except for later when the oil pressure sender units leaked (also happens with non-synthetics). If I couldn't get AMSOIL--and you can't in England--I'd use Mobil 1, which is (in my opinion anyhow) the second best oil on the market. If you don't (or won't) use a good engine flush before changing, then plan to dump the first batch of synthetic after 3-4,000 miles, because it will clean out all the junk left in your engine by non-synthetics. After that, I'd have no problem running Moibl 1 15,000 miles or a year (filter change at 1/2 that) in any non-turbo/non-diesel engine.
