I probably shouldn't do this, but I am going to enter the oil preference fray. I am the military representative at the aircraft engine manufacturer for the Navy fighter/attack aircraft (and Swedish fighter, btw). After reading the endless variety of opinions offered by this group, I decided to enlist the experts. The Bearing, Gearbox and Lubrication expert for the aircraft engine, who is also a car enthusiast, recommends 5w-30(winter) 10w-30(summer) and change it at 5000 miles. The confusion is the oil company marketeers work. Their job is to convince you to buy their oil and buy it often. Apparently, they have done their job well. -- Bart L.
