Subject: Re: How good is the '99 9.3 185hp

I find the Saab's engine to be very quiet (mine's the 185-hp one). I did not drive a Camry sedan in comparison to this car, but I drove a Solara. I think the Solara may have been a bit quieter overall (road, wind, whatever), but perhaps the noise was simply "different." The Solara V-6 does have a nice feelig of power, but the Saab is actually a bit more subjectively impressive to me, despite less peak power. I have a stick, so I can't help with the automatic question. The throttle and brakes feel quite a bit different from the Toyota. The throttle must be pushed more upon takeoff than most Japanese or American cars I drove, but I thought the Solara's was too touchy; I thought the same of its brake pedal. The Saab's brakes, handling, and steering are terrific. Is that helpful? If not, I'll try again. If you prefer, you may send email to Bullwinkle at mostlysunny dot com.
