If so, I'd either sue them or make them take the car back. I don't trust these guys any farther than I could throw their parents corporation, Von Houson Motor Group, Inc. I live in Sacramento, own 5 Saabs, and ONLY go to these bozos in case of a parts emergency when I can't get them elsewhere. While the parts department is certainly competant (Jay and Emilio have always been very helpful) their sales department couldn't tell a 96 V4 from a 900SE and would lie to cover up the fact. A couple weeks ago, a friend of mine went to them to discuss leasing a '99 9-5. After speaking with them, I recommended they talk to to B&B Saab (in Santa Clara). Not only did they find the service at B&B more pleasant, but they also saved considerable money on a lease that they were told by Sac Jag-Saab was "non-negotiable." If it wasn't for the fact that they are the only dealer in the area, I would complain to Saab USA. But I'd rather have a bad dealer than no dealer at all. Niello was not great, but they were leaps and bounds better than Sac Jag... Some nice experiences: My *worst* experience with them was when I took my 900T in for a new brake cylinder and an oil change, and it took them two weeks to do it. I called them on a Monday afternoon to find out what was going on, and they told me (this is after two weeks) that my car had been broken into on their lot. No one called to tell me, they just waited for me to do it. They ended up having the car for close to two months, while 'repairs' were carried out. When I got the car back, the paint on the trunk was damaged, the front seats were ripped, the dash fascia was damaged, the headliner torn, and my Saab key had been replaced with a cheap aftermarket one. They told me they would repaint the trunk (which took three more weeks), couldn't do anything about the key, and that they had no way to verify my headliner, fascia, or seats so they couldn't do anything about it. My ONLY consolation is that I had secretly upgraded my rental Altima (which they agreed to pay for) to a Buick Park Avenue, which cost nearly twice the daily fee... they had quite a rental bill! Since then, I've been lied to about the availability of loaners. A friend of mine had no problem getting a loaner for a day while his Aero was in for service, but when I inquired I was told by one person that "all the loaners had been crashed" and by another that they "never had any loaners." This was on the same day. I took my '90 SPG in for a recall. It took them two days, and when I got it back it wouldn't idle properly. I DEMONSTRATED the problem to my 'service advistor' (I was the one doing the advising, it seemed) but when I left it with them for another day they said they could not replicate the problem. Being skeptical of them, I checked the mileage before and after dropping it - it had advanced 3/10ths of a mile. Yeah, sure they checked it out. I ended up taking the car to my mechanic, who quickly diagnosed the problem (faulty ECU, as I had tried to tell the dealer) and fixed it for free - charged parts back to the dealer. And, finally: My mechanic had a '95 (?) 900SEV6 in his shop with Sac Jag plates. I'd asked why it was there - who it belonged to and why they'd buy a 900 V6. He said someone had just bought it, and that they wanted a post-purchase inspection. The buyer had been told that the 30,000 mile service had been carried out, and that the timing belt was new and he wouldn't have to worry about it. Well, I watched as they pulled the not-new timing belt out of the car. My mechanic uttered a few choice words and said, "Those idiots don't know what they're doing." His head tech had some better words. It isn't the first time he's found evidence of false representation from these goons. Man, that was long. I feel really strongly about these guys. Just watch your back... :) -Justin
