Subject: Re: Is Saab's Reliability a thing of the Past?

I bought a 1999 SAAB 9-3 on December 23rd, 1998. Merry Christmas I say! This is my first SAAB. I absolutely love this car. It is a black 3 door, camel interior. Sunroof. Heated seats. It drives like nothing I’ve ever driven. It is VERY fast. It has amazing breaks. It goes very well in the snow. It is so quiet and gets up to speed so fast, that I was having trouble with excessive speeding in my driving. The third day I had it, I got a flat tire. No shit, drove over a screw. The 15-inch tires are 150.00 bucks. I fell over when I heard that. Its because they have a V speed rating, so the car can go 175 miles per hour or something like that. On about the 5th day, the clock magically reset itself to Jan 1 1997. I said oh shit, is this a bigger electrical problem? The dealer assures me it is a faulty SID unit. The 400-dollar replacement unit (free of charge of course, 48-month warranty) was broken in shipping. I have to go back to the dealer for the 3rd time in the 1st two months of ownership. The rear windshield washer nozzle. Was defective. Now the car has developed a loud buzz in the right hand dash, when I am stopped. It ceases when I accelerate. This only happens periodically. And naturally, it would not do it for the nice man in the service dept when I took it in. Now you may ask why I said I love this car. The coolness of this car outweighs my problems so far. But, when you buy a 30,000 car, it should not have these trivial problems at all. Good luck PS I think that I now have experienced the SAAB quirkiness the are always talking about. adrian c wrote in message <01be63ea$f075c660$1801a8c0nopsaman>... >1989 Saab 900i >Owned from 90 to 160,000 miles (7-10 years old) >No problems other than replacing one brake caliper > >1995 Saab 900i >Owned from 86 to current 102k miles >Big end gone- engine now replaced with a 10k miler >Gearbox oil seal leaking >CV Boot leaking >Heater resistance package blown >Exhaust Blown >(All since last SAAB dealer service 12k ago) > >Car has a full dealer service history, at considerable expense. > >I have driven Saabs for last 4 years and always swore I'd never drive >anything else. >I dont know if I'll still feel the same when its pay up time! > >Is my car a lemon?
