Hi Mike. I have the identical problem. I brought it to a Saab dealer and was told it is the blower motor resistor (I bet that your A/C indicator light works when the fan is off, and it turns off when you change the fan speed to '4' - right?) The dealer quoted me around $100 for the motor and $100 for labour (Canadian) I think the motor is behind the glove box isn't it? John.
