Steve,
Before you take anything apart, try checking that you have the
correct oil in the gearbox! It should be 15w40 engine oil, (not
synthetic). I had a similar problem to you when I first had my 900, some
fool had put in EP90 gear oil, and it really does make a difference. As
regards to the clutch travel, the clutch should engage/disengage roughly
mid-way up it's stroke and it's not adjustable.
