Most (if not all) '89 Saabs used a Clarion system with a knob for volume control and single-color LEDs for the equalizer - optional and included on some earlier models was a radio with + and - for volume control and multi-color LEDs for the eq. IIf you've got a knob system, you won't be able to easily to use the eq, as is does not include and amplifier. Instead, the head unit has a 'bypass' which it sends out a low-level signal to the eq, which then loops back into the head unit, through its integral amp, then out to the speakers. If you've got a button system, you should be able to design a wiring harness to do the job. On these systems, the amp is built into the eq, so assuming your new head unit has low level (RCA) outputs, you could adapt the eq to work with the new head. Personally, I don't think it's worth it, as the amp Saab used, while good for its day, is not of particularly high quality by today's standards, and you'll get better sound using the amp built into whatever head unit you choose. -Justin
