My Volvo does that about every 20 yrs <g>. Stumbles, dies, then after 15-20 minutes wakes up refreshed and drives like nothing happened. In my case it's been the auxiliary fuel pump - a little electric feed pump inside the gas tank. I understand it's there to prevent vapor lock, which, when it happens, results in the condition you describe. Don't know if 900s have anything similar - my '86 900 that I got recently hasn't been out of the shop long enough to get a good real look at it <g>.
