I had an 87 900S two years before I got my 87 9000S. While the 16V  2.0
L engine for both is basically the same, there are differences that
preclude the engine used in the 9000 from being used in a 900, unless
you disassemble and change out many parts. That is not a certainty. That
question has been asked in this newsgroup and at the www.saabnet.com
Bulletin Board about cross use. If my memory serves me correctly, it is
not advised. As for the manual. The Haynes manual for the 9000 is the
one, unless you want to buy factory books. Bentley does not have a 9000
manual.
