Patrick - The noise not so much increases but speeds up with acceleration and slows down when decelerating. It doesn't appear to change on cornering although there is a very slight clicking on full lock right and that sounds like the left outer cv joint, but i'm mot sure this is the *noise*. Not a growling noise either - i'll try listening out when turning direction this morning - any thoughts greatly appreciated
