PMFJI here, but since I drove RX7s for 13 years before purchasing a 96 900 SE (v6) maybe I can add some fuel to this fire. As much as I like the 900, it is not a real perfomance car in the same sense that the RX7 or a Beemer might be. (I've on;ly driven a BMW once-a 3 series and was not really impressed). The 900 or 9.3 is a good car that perfowms well. The Talledaga challenge that Saab ran last year was an interesting publicity stunt, but proving a car can run at 120+ mph for whatever lileage they ran does not make it a perfomance car. As far as front wheel v rear wheel drive, isn't the ACura NSX a front wheeler? And that car has gotten good press here in Chicago about its performance. And on the other hand, the rear wheel drives with a computer chip have also gotten good reviews for the BMW. I saw one TV commercial with a BMW without their traction controll sliding its way around a slushy course and barely managing to hold on while being followed by an identical car with the electronic traction control looking like it was ready to jump on the trunk of the lead car and eat it for lunch. Front or rear drive, computers will make us all better drivers. -- fwittoschnopsamuserve.com
