I don't want to jump to conclusions, but this sounds very similar to an incident that happened about 5 months ago in which I rear-ended a Taurus in an '88 9000. The Taurus suffered minor rear end bumper damage, while the entire front end of my car above the bumper was wiped out. The reason, however, was not that the bumper was too low but that the car (mine) had pitched forward under hard braking, thus dropping the bumper height a few inches. Likewise, the Taurus had also pitched forward slightly, effectively raising the rear bumper at the point of impact. I suspect that if your positions had been reversed that the Honda would now be looking at a whole new front end and you would be buffing out minor paint scratches on your rear bumper. There is no way that the stock bumper height of the '87 900 is considerably lower than that of everything else on the road. (Except sport-utes, of course, but I digress...) But, like any other car, the 900 is going to pitch forward somewhat under strong deceleration. I'm sorry to hear about the accident, though. -Doug
