Are you sure the power lock button is not stuck in the back position? That has happened to me. For a few days I thought I had a new feature. I would get in the car and it would lock automatically. Then it stopped. Then one day I heard that whirring sound you mentioned and the locks (already up) would go up by themselves. Sometimes the switch sticks instead of returning to the neutral position.
