Tony Also take a look at the modulation value that sits on topthe radiator on the right side. with the key on the valve should be energized. If you remove the power plug while energized you should here a click. When was the last time you changed the spark plugs. Worn plugs also chase problems with getting to max boost as they tend to missfire at high boost pressure. The knock sensor is also worth testing by a slight tap and you should here the modulation valve start to work. i.e. clicking. The knock sensor should be clean and not corroded at the electrical connection. Best of Luck tony... >Tony Leggatt <Tonynopsamatt60.freeserve.co.uk> wrote in message >news:7ghpfj$gge$1nopsam8.svr.pol.co.uk... >> I have an 86 900 T16 >> >> Its getting on a bit (194 000 Miles) and is giving me an intermittent >> problem on the maximum boost that can be obtained. >> >> OVer the winter the needle on the APC gauge has started to drop from >> recording a maximum value on the border of the orange and red zones to >only >> swinging around about 3/4 of the orange zone. >> >> Now I have had the hooter valve replaced and can't find any obvious splits >> etc. >> >> What has me puzzled is that I can get full (or nearly full) boost >> occasionally. >> >> Before I take the thing in to get its plumbers nightmare system of tubing >> etc checked out can anyone suggest what it might be and what the solution >> should be. >> >> I've found that if I turn up with my Haynes and printouts from you helpful >> people out there my mechanic:- >> A: Treats me with a grudging amount of respect >> B: Dignifies me with a full explanation of what took the time and shows me >> the parts removed/replaced. >> C: The bills have dropped as he has a bit more of a clue and knows that I >> know how long or difficult things are going to be. >> >> So thanks to everyone who has helped me in the past or who may be able to >> assist in this one. >> >> >> >> Cheers >> >> >> >> Tony >> >> >> > >
