Subject: Re: brake & blinker light problem '85 900 turbo

Thanks. But, there seems to be some confusion. The part I replaced has no wiring. It is just the lenses for the rear lights. The part that is wired is the same as before. The wired part of the assembly unplugs from the part that screws into the body -- a single piece that has all of the rear light lenses on the driver's side -- and then when I replaced the lens unit into the body, I pluged the wired part back into it. At no time were any wires disconnected. (I am told that this may be different with the 3-door 900T; I have a sedan.) In a sense, it is like replacing the yellow cover on the front turn signal. I am puzzled -- since the two suggestions I have gotten talk about a bad ground -- if the assembly that is wired and into which the bulbs are plugged is supposed to somehow be grounded on its own. I cannot see that anywhere. In fact, that assembly seems to specifically be not grounded, since it is plastic and plugs into a plastic assembly (the lens unit). So my assumption is that grounding is supplied via a wire in the harness, but just an assumption. Does anyone know where the brain is that runs to lights -- making them blink and somehow work together? Or where the wiring harness for the back lights terminates up front? Is it accessible or do I have to remove the dashboard? I also just noticed that my back-up lights have gone dead, too. Thanks for the suggestions. Igor.
