Subject: Re: Fuel Pump HELP PLEASE!!

I picked up a fuel pump at a boneyard for my 84 900. They are a pretty easy find because it is the same unit for several years/models. It only cost me like $45 which was a far cry from the $300 from the parts store or dealer. Pretty easy to replace. You do not have to remove the tank, just open the trunk/hatch and remove the floor panel and the pump is located under a round metal disc. You will need a flexible extension though to get at the bolt on the clamp that holds the pump in. Also I would suggest that you pay very close attention to the way the pump is positioned when you take it out. You want the new one to be keyed the same way going in. I would recommend going to your dealer and purchasing the Bentley Service Manuel for your model Saab. The $50 you spend on that will be a huge savings to your time, patience, and $$$$. It will include a section on fuel pump replacement.
