Subject: Extra stereo speaker wires? Why???

Hi all. I have a 1995 Saab 9000 CS with the upgrades HK audio system. There is an amp under the front passenger seat. I have discovered that the read speakers (accessible through the hatch/trunk) have two sets of speaker wires coming to each of them, with only one set connected to each...the other is just hanging there. I tried connecting the other set (they both have a "plug" that makes them easy to switch) and got no response from the speaker. I can see that both sets of wires come from the amp yet only one seems to produce sound from the amp. What are the other wires? Why do them originate at the amp yet produce no sound from the speakers? Please email responses to chrispnopsamne (just add the t) Thanks so much.
