My battery just died (94 900s 2.3 non-turbo RHD model) after going flat 3-4 times and being unable to hold a charge more than a few hours. There was never a warning light or message on the display panel. Once, I had a radiator hose leaking and the panel chimed and said "Coolant Low" in almost no time. Why nothing with the battery? If I had a proper voltmeter I would have seen something.
