Subject: Re: 900 S convertible top

Same problem to every 900 conv., mine too. You can tell for hours why this happens, but it happens and thereīs only one thing to prevent that - keep it closed! The mayor spot is at the fold under the small metal piece, the next above and in front of the "rear windscreen bar" caused by scrubbing during opening/closing (the opening top frames push the windscreen bar downwards) and the last spot is cause by the folded frame knee (rubber stubble) right above the small rear side windows, the rest is caused by the heavy frames working against each other - the spacers solve that a litte... So what will it cost?! Depending on the color and your location. When you replace a tan front part you have to repace the rear windscreen part too, cause the color will be different! Here in EUROPE: Originally SAAB spare parts, the front cloth cost about 2000 U$, the rear one (with windscreen) litte less. Plus labor work the full job will cost about 5000 U$ done by offical SAAB mecanics... (I was told, thatīs normally an insurance case...) If you donīt take original Saab spare parts or have it done somewhere else and only the front part, you can have it done for 2000 U$. - RCS - PJHagen : > Has anyone had a problem with the fabric just separating? > > I have a '92 900 S convertible.
