Much of the rest in the ads is merely hype. AMSOIL and Mobil 1 have both been proven to outperform the other oils in extensive fleet testing over the past 20-25 years. There is little difference between major brands of non-synthetics these days. There is much more difference between brands of synthetics. All (that I know of) will outperform the non-synthetics. The degree of outperformance varies wildly. I have some comparative data on some synthetics (taken from the manufacturers of the oils) which I could send, if you'll e-mail a postal address.
