I would opt for an extended warranty, but would have no undue fears regarding longevity. I also think that '96 cars are a particularly good value on the market at this point. I had a '96 900S 3dr automatic, which I traded for a 9-5, but really miss the 900S. 900's had a nasty tendancy to madly follow the grade of the road. This can be fixed with enough patience and prodding from Saab by loosening the front rack and fiddling with it and a good 4-wheel alignment at which point the car will track straight. --Blair
