They're close, but not *exactly* the same. In my basement, I've got turbochargers from an '83 APC car (8V), and an '86 SPG (16V). The external dimensions are the same, but the inside diameter going into the compressor is larger for the 16V unit. This implies a higher-flow compressor, which makes sense since the 16V motor makes a lot more HP. And if you look in the parts book, they've got different part numbers.
