Go for it. A Camry vs. a 900 will show the difference at 130kph on some twisties. I got to do both, and the difference is real. I put 225K mi on a 82 900 before the turbo went. I put 125K mi on a 9000 and the head never came off. Perfect? no, but I bought a 96 conv. when I moved to CA. They do well in the snow. I'd get a set of snow tires / wheels so that you can have aggressive wide rubber for the summer and small patch winter tires for the snow (don't need them in CA).
