Subject: Re: Will Saab have All Wheel Drive?

For me, AWD is an important element for handling. FWD is just not designed for handling. And getting 258lb-ft of torque to the front wheels alone, as on the 9-3 Viggen, is really tricky. I now drive a Saab 9000CS which I have improved with the Aero suspension package and thicker rear sway bar, and it handles pretty decently. However, it just doesn't provide the direct and intuitive throttle steering capability that a good RWD can provide and I know that from personal experience. AWD makes the best compromise between FWD and RWD although I think RWD cars are still potentially more fun to drive. And yes, I'll be waiting for Saab to be out with an AWD. And Saab better hurry up because Volvo seems to be ready to enter AWD in a big way, not-to-mention VW. It seems that every FWD car company that has any performance aspirations is moving to AWD (and companies like Honda and Toyota moving into RWD).
