Get some good solvent, remove all the gook from these areas, and watch. It helps to get some clean white paper to set under the car to help pinpoint the leaks - a roll of butcher's paper works well. I've heard that the little rubber seal around the dipstick can also leak, though I've yet to experience that even on my higher mileage Saabs.... but who knows? There are some other possibilities which are harder to check - it could be coming from the seal between the main casing and the primary gear transfer case, or the primary gear cover plate. It could also be a bad clutch input shaft seal. If it's the main casing seal, I would strongly suggest going ahead and having the tranny rebuilt, since you will need to pull the whole thing apart to fix the seal anyway. If it's the clutch input shaft seal, might as well do the clutch at the same time since you gotta take all that apart. Good luck, -Justin
