Allen, My answer/theory is "It's a Saab and they do that" 8^) In all seriousness, what you're experiencing is a very common problem in older 900's (don't know whether it affects 9000's too). Basically, one of the drive gears for the odometer (inside the speedometer mechanism) cracks and gets loose on the shaft. Thus the shaft stops rotating, and the odometer with it. If you're inclined to disassemble the speedo and fix it, you can search this NG on DejaNews for some good descriptions of the procedure. It's not a fun or easy task, though!
