I've change a fair number of Saabs to synthetic oil with 100,000 or more miles on them, and not had a bit of leakage problem. If it is leaking not, then putting synthetic in it won't stop it from leaking.If you don't (or won't) use a good engine flush before going to synthetic, then watch for any signs of suddenly increased oil consumption after a couple thousand miles. If you get this, change the filter and top off. And you might then want to change the first batch of synthetic after 3,000 miles or so (because it will clean). There is not a great deal of difference between major brands of non-synthetic
