Subject: Re: 900 fuel pump relay problems

>My fuel pump seems to make a constant drone. Does that mean it's on >the way out? Simon>> Well, I may have a similar problem. I've fitted a new Hungarian made relay £45+vat After doing so I let the car idle and traced back what I'd call a whiney hiss to just behind the nearside back wheel. I believe this is where the pump is. This sound has been described by others as a 'drone' and a 'buzz'. So is a 'hiss' OK or should it be silent??? Is it the pump itself or bad connections? Is the pump user replaceable or not? (Don't fancy clouds of gas around while experimenting....) Can any expert sort this thing out - there seems to be a queue of sufferers from shot relays. Thanks, Andy
