I posted this on the Saabnet.com Bulletin Board already. I recently discovered something by accident that may help a few of you. Before I had hip surgery in May, I cleaned my throttle plate and throttle body. A couple of weeks after surgery, when I started driving again, the car ran like a top. A few weeks later the the idle became rough. To my surprise the throttle body and plate were filthy again. I found two culprits. The first was the plastic valve coming from the back of the valve cover with two hoses going to the throttle body. I was completely amazed, when I pulled the valve, hit it with Berryman's B-12 Carb and Choke cleaner and watched hard black chunks come out. These were apparently blocking the flow of the hot gases back to the throttle body. There was a noticeable drop in the engine temp, according to my temp guage. The second item was the 1/2" hose from the valve to the throttle body. I felt it was not very tight on either end. I bought a new piece, a whopping $.76, and replaced the old hose with a clamp on the end attached to the throttle body. The difference in the way the car runs is amazing. The old hose was sucking air. The car now runs very quiet and the power band is better. I know it will help other non-turbo 9000s and may even help 900s. I am just passing it along.
